Happy Valentine's Day! Sorry for lacking on the blogging last week, it was quite a hectic one; recovered with a quite adventurous and relaxing weekend in Annapolis! Before I start with my very long post that will be full of nonsense, mushy love, and fashion, I would like to share a Kate Spade favorite e-card of mine:

Since Pat and I have to be apart during the week, we spent this weekend roaming around Annapolis, shopping, eating too many chocolate covered strawberries, and having a lot of time to catch up.  I couldn't have asked for better time spent with him, and already miss him way too much. However, Annapolis gave me a few blog inspirations for this week, so stay tuned!

Today I am thankful for my loving family, my Westie who is keeping me warm currently, and my sweet boyfriend who puts all other men to shame (except for your men of course).  I am also thankful for the ability to love, self-give, and trust...and for PINK, and lots of it!

Awesome and Awkward Thursday

Awkward:

• My speed walking abilities when it is cold. I am talking world champion potential. Vrooming past the whole men's lacrosse team at my college as i treked from my car to the science building at my college (that is of course the furthest building away from where I have to park).  My corduroys making a swishing noise with every step (or ganter) I took.  If that isn't bad enough, one of them asking if I had to pee really bad.  "Umm no buddy, it's below zero outside in case you didn't notice". 
• Printing out my entire 14 page lab report I slaved over last night, proudly handing it to my professor, only to find out that she is greatly offended by tree killers like myself.  Ohhh the joys of our science department. Guess I'm not getting an A++ on this one folks.
• Coffee breath, and no gum. All day.
• Being the only one on my campus to wear a plaid flannel shirt on National College Flannel Shirt Day.
• Singing up my flight of stairs coming home from the gym, and not stopping until I finally realize two guys are glaring at me. 

Awesome:

• Cookies were brought to lab. CHOCOLATE chip ones. Who doesn't need a cookie in lab?
• My Sperry Topsider pink and brown plaid duck boots. They have wool in them. Waterproof, Warm, and Cute? Sounds like a good deal to me.

• Bragging about my spring break cruise with Pat to Mexico and Grand Cayman. Motivation right there.
• Doing top secret activities for Pat for Valentine's Day. Shhhhh!
• Max has a howl for me. Only for me when I come home. He only does it then, and he pees.  It makes me feel loved and missed every time. 
• Packing for Annapolis tomorrow. Which means Pat, to myself. For a whole weekend. After two big stinking weeks apart. So excited I won't sleep tonight. Yep, he still makes me all mushy.  

I love him.

Hey Preps!

Max here...(or Sir Maxwell Smart to those of you I consider my "underdogs")

Kalyn and I are both bummed about the Super Bowl.  See I wore my jersey and everything! I thought that it'd be a guarenteed win for the Steelers, if I let Kalyn squeeze me into this thing.  Oh well...don't I look cute? Of course my "people" always think I look cute.  Right now, Kalyn has a huge lab report to do. When she's busy, I get very restless, and bring her every toy I own to convince her to play.  However, right now that doesn't seem to be working so I guess I have to pass the time by writing this post to you. 

How have your days been?

Mine was pretty lazy. I slept really late today...I am talking 6:00AM! Then I woke Kalyn up by scratching.  It's winter, and my skin gets really itchy; plus it's a great way to get Kalyn moving.  We went outside but it was way too cold for me and after a quick potty I rushed inside for some breakfast.  Then Kalyn left me...she always leaves me and I don't know where she goes. 

Boy do I get excited when she comes home though, like right now.  Except what is she doing? Writing the longest lab report ever.  Hopefully she will be done soon, so we can play, and I can have my daily puppy massages.  Maybe then she will have time to write a good post as well :)

Pittsburgh's Going to the Super Bowl! Here We Go!

It's Super Bowl Sunday! (just when you thought I wouldn't post about the Steelers)

My Steelers are shooting for our 7th Super Bowl Ring Today! Many people hate the Steelers, and other than the fact that they win a lot, I am clueless to why. Therefore, I feel as a rooted Pittsburgher, I need to explain a few things about the most hardworking team in the NFL.

Pittsburgh is a blue-collared town. People work very hard to be successful, and it is evident that this is reflected in our football team.  Players like Aaron Smith, Troy Polamalu, Ryan Clark, and Keiran Foxx have all been highly involved in the Pittsburgh philanthropy, and have given so much to our city. 

My mom works for Blitzburgh Incorporated as a financial advisor, and helps the Steelers manage the money that they want to give to organizations such as The Children's Institute that has helped my sister recover from cilliac disease which she suffers from.  I have met many of the players (including all of the four above), and they are men of great character.  Sure, many of you will bring up the fact that Ben was accused of rape this summer.  Yes, there are struggles with being a famous athlete, and there are players on the team who live a fast lifestyle (as every other team has those players). 

However, as a whole, the team is grounded in their faith, and their love of our city.  When they really want something, they will do everything in their power to achieve that.  I am so proud of the team that they are.  I am very fortunate to have met and personally got to know some of them through my mother's business, which makes today truly personal for me.

Offended doesn't begin to cut it, when I see other people just rooting for the other team because they hate the Steelers, because if you really look at our history, our team, and our city...there is not much to hate. 

Yesterday I was in the Strip District in Pittsburgh buying some more Black and Gold (or Yellow) gear.  It was packed! I am talking there was no walking room.  Everyone was in their Steeler attire screaming and singing.  It is such an amazing thing to be part of, and it is times like these that make me so happy to be back home in the city I love, and so proud to be part of this legacy. 

However, I do have great respect for the Green Bay Packers, and what they have accomplished this season, and am extremely happy about the Super Bowl turnout.  However, I hope you all will root for my Steelers today!

In Four Weeks: We Say Goodbye Homework, Hello Fun Ship!

Hey Preps!

This is Kalyn, the newly pastey, white, ghostly, blogger.  Yep. It's official. I have zero tan lines left from this summer. It makes me sad because this has not happened to me for the past two years due to my move South.  However, the dreaded flakey, white skin is back in full swing. So...to raise my spirits, and may make you a little jealous, I would like to announce....that in four weeks, Pat and I will be on a Carnival Cruise stopping in Cozumel, Mexico, Grand Cayman, and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. WOOOHOOOO!

The funny thing is this, the very same cruise route we will be embarking on, and the very same week we will be cruising, is where and when we met! If you haven't read the hilarious story of how we got together, it's definitely worth reading, and you can click on this LINK. 

However, to hopefully make you feel warmer as well, I made a Polyvore of what I plan on wearing the entire duration of our trip:
