Get Knotty!

Hey Preps!

A few months ago, Pat saw this Smathers and Branson needlepoint belt that he was dying for.  It had every popular beer imaginable on it...but was not in either of our current price range for belts...given that we both travel to see each other so much, and are in other terms poor, budgeting, college students.

So, I was browsing a while back, and came across Knot Clothing & Belt Co.. I was so pleasantly surprised!  From "D-ring" to leather tab ribbon belts...Knot Clothing & Belt Co. are the best!  The pricing is very reasonable, especially for a college student given what a great quality you receive.

Wanna know the best part? They had a BYOB Belt that was just as detailed as the needlepoint belt Pat had drooled over.  It is even so detailed that the "Corona" found on the belt has a lime on the top (my favorite beer if you wanted to know...especially with a lime)!

The D-Ring BYOB Belt

You bet I bought this belt for Pat!  He loves it!  His adoration for it was shown when he decided to wear it to the Annapolis Cup (croquet) this past year, with an outfit that has won him on several nationally known websites such as Gawker, the Huffington Post, and Brooks Brothers Fan Page (even though we weren't too happy about Gawker...ahemmm)

Pat and I at the Annapolis Cup...Pat in his finest, BYOB Belt on :)

Knot Company&Belt Co.  offers such a great variety in preppy and nautical belts!  Their sizes work for both gents and the lovely ladies, and I have been having a tough time deciding which belt to purchase!

Here are a few of my personal favorites:

Aren't these just great?  Definitely be sure to check out Knot Clothing&Belt Co.!
Hope y'all are having a great week!

Nautically, We Would Accidentally Match

Hey Preps!

Pat and I have this teeny problem in our relationship...that involves accidentally matching every time we are together.  For example, once I wore a Polo Ralph Lauren pink oxford button-down dress...cinched with a light blue belt.  Pat walked out wearing a pink oxford button-down shirt and light blue seersucker shorts.

However, last weekend we got a little more creative with the matchy matchy.  Let me show you:

Yep I'm blocking his square head with my round head...sorry Patty.

Here is a Polyvore I made of our outfits:

We were opposites this time.  Pat in a Nantucket red polo with navy and white lobster shorts, while I was in Nantucket red Polo chino shorts and a navy and white sweatshirt.  We tied the matchiness together by both wearing Sperrys and D-ring belts.  People probably think we were such weirdos trying to match like we did...of course...that would probably be an appropriate thought...because we are.

Big humungous weirdos.
Who match.
And love each other.

P.S.  All of your comments from my last post made me laugh...and to those who agreed to come to the Annapolis Cup next year, I'm holding you to it!

What's On My Desk?

Hey Preps!

The semester is unwinding, and the weeks seem to blur together.  Between the papers, tests (that professors always HAVE to include before finals), finalizing summer internships, working, and being a full time student...time does seem short.  However, there are a few things that seem to make those studying blues deflate slightly.  So today, I took a quick snapshot of what is on my dorm room's desk:

I truly believe every college student needs a HUGE calendar.  As you can see, I scribble all over mine.  It's a great way to be instantly reminded of events and due dates just by a quick glance.

On the far left corner, you can also see a flash card holder.  I take mine with me to my Chemistry classes, and just rewrite formulas and memorize them that way.

Other basic things found on my desk, are sticky notes (with a K, for Kalyn), textbooks, tissues for that occasional sneeze or panic attack, pictures of Pat because I miss him during the week, and a horribly made ceramic pot (by yours truly) filled with fake flowers.

As you can see I have numbered some of the items on my desk.  Why?  Because I think every preppy girl should have these:

#1.  Pink Polka-Dot Lamp (with a K on it, although you cannot tell) from T.J. Maxx
#2.  "Stuck on You" Sticky Notes and a Koozie (for that occasional Diet Coke) from Lilly Pulitzer
#3. Thermal Mug for the not so occasional coffee from Lilly Pulitzer
#4. Anchored Weekly Planner to keep my busy life fashionably organized from Sarah Pinto
#5. Cute Love Postcards to send to friends (I Whaley Like You) by ModCloth
#6. Blink by Malcolm Gladwell a great book that really allows you to make great and fast decisions

Georgetown or Bust

"Come on Kalyn! Let's shop til we drop!
Hey Preps!

The weekend is already over! Luckily it is my spring break now, so I can stay up to the wee hours of the night just to write a post! As I excitedly posted before, I headed down to Annapolis on Saturday to visit Pat.  Usually we spend the whole weekend together, however, he had a fitness test Saturday morning, and I was woken up to repetitive text messages from him...extremely early Saturday asking if I was up yet.  Clearly, he had completed his fitness test, and breakfast along with it; because Pat gets impatient when it comes to one thing: food! He does not like even a slightly empty stomach.  Therefore, he was prodding me out of bed so I could vroom to him for lunchtime!

Upon arrival in Maryland's quaint capital, I see three second year midshipmen already awaiting my arrival at my usual pick-up curb right outside the Academy walls.  What a sight.  Clearly all famished.  Lunch.  Humor.  Down to one midshipmen, my very own boyfriend.  All to myself.  Thank you.

45 minutes later, we are in traffic in D.C. just at the peak of Georgetown.  Pat was perturbed, however we both soon forgot about the wait as we admired the Madeline looking town houses, all with unique colors, stairs, and shutters.  We started debating our favorites, and before we know it we reached the streets of Georgetown.  Traffic and people.   At a constant flow.  However, our adventures there were well worth the crowds.

Lacoste. Kate Spade~New York. Tommy Hilfiger. J Crew. Ralph Lauren. Vineyard Vines. Banana Republic. BCBG. Betsey Johnson. Banana Republic.
We had to get a whale hat!

Hello shopping heaven!  Pat and I seriously did not stop...you are all probably thinking, "poor Pat!".  Think again.  This boy knows his shopping.  He competes with me.  That is saying something! The first store of the day, Lacoste, we browsed.  I have an unhealthy amount of Lacoste polos and decided to hold my compulsiveness for other stores.  This did not happen.  Pat found a headband he thought I would like, I did like it, and long story short...I now own a hot pink Lacoste headband.

Pat and I both made some great purchases, which I will post tomorrow (they are very unique).  However, there was something about this adventure of ours that was just so refreshing.  Time spent together, yet critical thinking, decision making, and voicing our opinions in a non-stressful environment was somewhat of a relationship builder in my opinion.  We goofed off, ate too much, spent too much money, and I am once again so mushy about my boyfriend.  He's the best.  What a great weekend.

The Kate Spade Sunglasses shown, are one of my beloved accessories, and the shoes are L.L. Bean's Coastal Skimmers.  I got them for my birthday last fall, and I wear them several times a week! They are like the classic duck boots, are water proof, and have great traction...but are GIRLY!  As for the rest of my outfit, I wore a navy and white striped tunic dress, belted with a leather and nautical rope belt.  To keep it a little wintery I layered on top a brown tweed blazer.

Pat looked simply dashing in his Vineyard Vines plaid button down oxford, paired with his Vineyard Vines golf tie, and his green Brooks Brothers chinos.  He wore penny loafers for shoes, and a needlepoint belt from Smathers and Branson.

Shopping until dark of course

Hope you all had a very enjoyable weekend! Looking forward to reading your posts this week in my free time!

Brooks Brothers Spring Preview...I'm Ecstatic!

Procrastination. An art, which I have perfected over the course of my schooling. Instead of studying this morning, {like I intended on doing} I discovered a sneak preview to Brooks Brothers Spring 2011 wardrobe.

It is very hard for me to say this, but it competes with Tommy's.  So do you want to see it? Do you? Do you???

What I love about this collection, is the fact that it incorporates colors that are contrasting of one another. For example, the navy pullover, yellow and navy striped rugby polo, and salmon (or brighter than salmon) colored shorts...it's a perfectly balanced outfit that doesn't scream "matchy matchy".  I also love the white pants, and the khaki seen in these examples...that is always a pure sign of spring, and can be worn with a plethora of hues.

Finally, did you notice the nautical theme? Obviously obsessed with the navy boat shoes, the whales found on the salmon pants (Pat has two pairs of lobster shorts), the navy and white striped dress, and the adorable wedges that are found in several of the pictures.

In comparison, I found some pictures of my friends and I that match the colors, and styling found in this spring collection:

Allison and I in Annapolis by the bay, notice her balance of navy and white,
while I take on the orange/salmon and tie it off with a rope belt.

Patrick and I at Polo for the Cure for Cancer 2010
Pat has his salmon pants on, a white Polo oxford, and Vineyard Vines
sail boat tie, and a Leatherman stitched belt.
I have on a sundress from Ann Taylor Loft, and Betsey Johnson sunglasses

Rob is wearing a Brooks Brothers Polo

Rob in an Izod Polo and Vineyard Vine shorts

Doesn't this make you so excited for warmer weather? What do you guys think of Brooks Brothers Sneak Preview?

Tomorrow is Friday! With the whole weekend ahead, I thought I'd show you what I am planning on taking with me to Annapolis as I am in the process or packing:

What do you guys think?
